Criterion text
Dishwashers must at leasst meet the energy efficiency class D, in accordance with regulation (EU) 2019/2017 supplementing Regulation (EU) 2017/1369 of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to energy labelling of household dishwashers.
Proposed follow-up
Ensure that dishwashers supplied under the contract meet the energy efficiency class that applied on the date of delivery by checking the energy label. Energy labels in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2019/2017 with regard to energy labelling of household dishwashers.
Alternatively, request information from the EPREL database (European Product Database for Energy Labelling) to ensure that the energy efficiency class is in compliance with the requirement.
Information about the criterion
The requirement has been developed for 60cm wide dishwashers. When procuring smaller machines a dialouge with the market may be nessecary since such machines may have difficulties to fulfill the energy efficiency class in the requirement.
The revised Energy Labelling and Ecodesign regulations mentioned in this requirement have been revised, and the new requirements will took effect on 1 March 2021.
The revised energylabelling scale will goes from A to G. The calculation formulae used in energy classification have been updated in the revised version of the Ecodesign Regulation. The Ecodesign Regulation now also covers resource efficiency and requirements regarding repairability and the availability of spare parts.
From 1 March 2021, the minimum requirement according to the Ecodesign Regulation (2009/125/EC) is that dishwashers that are placed on the market must have at least class G energy efficiency. From 2024, the requirement will be tightened to class E energy efficiency. This special contract term is therefore one energy labelling class more stringent than what is required from 2024 according to the Ecodesign Regulation.
Products supplied during the contract period must meet the energy efficiency classes applicable at the time of delivery.
Environmental goals
Motive
Energy use in the user phase is part of the environmental impact of the appliance. Buying energy efficient dishwashers thus reduces the environmental impact from the user phase.
