Criterion text
The noise level for tumble driers must be no higher than 66 dB (A).
Verification
- Ecolabel according to version 5 or later of the Nordic Swan Ecolabel for white goods.
- Energy label in accordance with regulation (EU) No 392/2012 regarding energy labelling of househols tumble driers.
- Other documentation that shows the washing machine's noise level, such as information sheets.
Proposed follow-up
If the requirement is verified by an ecolabel, it must be verified that there is a valid licence for the product in question. This can be checked with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel.
Ensure that tumble driers supplied under the contract meet the noise level requirement. This can be done, for example, by checking the energy label.
Information about the criterion
The proposal for energy labelling of tumble driers, which is not yet published, contains proposed limits for noise levels. The proposed limits are within the range 62-69dB (A) for different types of tumble driers, for a standard cotton program.
Environmental goals
Motive
Noise level or noise does not have an environmental impact, but it affects the work environment or the sound environment in the home. The sound that is not desirable for a listener is called noise. Noise can be harmful to hearing, disturbing, cause different physiological reactions and cause sleep disturbances. It can also make work tasks more difficult to perform and thus impair work performance. Therefore, noise level requirements when appliances are procured for use in workplaces as well as for use in households in new construction and similar are important.
