Criterion text
The sound pressure level of professional upright refrigerators, upright freezers and combination refrigerator/freezer units, refrigerated counters, counter freezers and blast cabinets shall not exceed the levels shown in the table below. The sound pressure level shall be measured according to EN 60704-1, EN ISO 3744 or an equivalent standard.
Product type | Sound pressure level |
Professional upright refrigerator, refrigerated counter and combination refrigerator/freezer | 55 dB(A) |
Professional upright freezer and counter freezer | 60 dB(A) |
Blast cabinet | 70 dB(A) |
Verification
The supplier shall, upon request, be able to present any of for example the following:
- Product information sheet that specifies the sound pressure level dB(A).
- Test protocol issued in accordance with the standards specified in the requirement, showing that the sound pressure levels are met.
Proposed follow-up
Check that the professional upright refrigerators and freezers, combination refrigerator/freezers, refrigerated counters and freezer counters, and blast cabinets that are delivered under the contract meet the sound pressure level requirement. Some ways to do this are to check the product information sheet or to inspect the measured sound pressure level in test protocol. Ensure that the measurements have been made in accordance with the standards indicated in the requirement or equivalent standards.
From a life-cycle cost perspective, it is especially relevant to demand energy-efficient refrigirators and freezers in professional kitchens to lower the environmental impact.
