For wastewater1 treated in the production plant, and discharged directly into the recipient, the following shall be met:
- The COD2 discharged shall for wool not exceed 45g/kg textile.
- The COD2 discharged shall for other textiles than wool not exceed 20 g/kg textile or alternatively 150 mg/l wastewater.
- The pH shall be 6 - 9, unless the recipient’s natural pH deviates from this range
- The temperature shall not exceed 40 ºC unless the recipient naturally has a higher temperature.
The requirement covers at least the process steps of dyeing, and preparation in the production of the main component3 of the textile.
1Closed systems that do not generate wastewater are not included in the requirement.
2COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) can be measured according to ISO 6060 or a similar method. It can also be measured as TOC (Total Organic Carbon), pCOD (particulate Chemical Oxygen Demand) or BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) if a correlation to COD can be displayed.
