Criterion text
Points will be awarded according to the water usage in litres per treatment,
The treatment cycle shall be as follows, in accordance with IEC 60601-2-16:2018 or equivalent:
- Test - time duration depends on machine
- Filling/Rinsing - 10 Minutes
- Pre-Circulation - 15 Minutes
- Dialysis- 4h
The lower water consumption will be given more points.
The testing shall be performed according to the general requirements in EN ISO 17025, U.S. 21 CFR del 820, ISO 13485 or equivalent.
Verification
Provide information on the water usage (litres/cycle) according to the treatment cycle above.
Proposed follow-up
Check that the measurement was performed according to the criterion, for example by controlling the test report.
Information about the criterion
Available data demonstrates that approximately 500 litres of water are used for one dialysis treatment of one patient. Dialysis treatment with optimisation of the dialysis fluid flow can use less than 250 litres per treatment. The evaluation can tentatively use 250 as a base value.
Environmental goals
Motive
Available data demonstrates that approximately 500 litres of water are used for one dialysis treatment of one patient1. Based on this, around 80,000 litres of water per year is used for a typical haemodialysis patient.
